Thabiso Serake is a seasoned cybersecurity and IT professional with over a decade of experience, primarily at ArcelorMittal South Africa in the mining industry. Started his career as a Technician, his technical expertise and leadership propelled him to a number of key positions in his career. At ArcelorMittal, he led transformative projects that enhanced safety, optimised cost efficiencies, and facilitated seamless digital communication across the plant. Notably, he played a pivotal role in the establishment of the company’s inaugural cybersecurity team, strengthening its security posture.

In 2022, Thabiso transitioned to the Fintech sector, joining Pay@ as an Information Security Officer. Currently, as Head of Cybersecurity and TechOps, he oversees the organisation’s cybersecurity strategy and daily IT operations. His leadership ensures robust protection against evolving threats and optimal system performance, safeguarding critical financial data and infrastructure.
